~ on the YOGIC Path ~
Yoga has incrementally crept into my life since the age of sixteen. I find deep truth, knowledge and wisdom in Yogic philosophy and find my morals and life values continue fitting evermore snuggly within it.
My ongoing journey through the various limbs of yoga has also opened my mind and intellect to the true meaning of Yoga. ‘Union’ or ‘yoke’ are the English translations of Yoga, and it is vastly more than an asana practice or movement practice, which is a necessary preparational step for the consequent limbs of Yoga on the way to Samadhi or enlightenment. Although this is an important and necessary part of the Yogic path, it is but one drop in a vast ocean. Our Guru in India says:
“All that bends well, ends well”
This demonstrates how important nimbleness is to our bodies and therefore minds. It is remarkable how difficult it is to sit still without moving for a long time and asana practice truly helps to improve the sitting posture. Happily, if your goal is not quite achieving Samadhi, there are still a plethora of other benefits from asana practice which can be worked in such a way as to focus on other specific problems or utilised for overall body health and mental wellbeing.
Yoga has been a part of my life for over 15 years, and my practice has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and balanced, both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully.
I completed my 200 hour Multi Styles training with Siddhi Yoga International and my 300 hour advanced training with Sarvaguna Yoga Dhaama in India. I will always be a student of the practice and am deeply grateful for the loving wisdom my teachers have shared with me.
In my classes, I love to create accessible classes for every body, an intention towards spirituality and an element relaxation to reduce overwhelming tension now rife in our society, all with the goal of helping you to deepen your practice. I seek to help others thrive in life by nurturing body, mind and soul with yoga, and my hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced, carrying these elements into your daily life.
Having lived abroad, I have occasionally found going to a structured class in a studio quite difficult. I have definitely persevered through language barriers…. But it can cause more anxiety than stillness! As a result I am very aware of the barriers to entering into Yoga practice and through my own teaching I try to empower everybody to attain a practice with which they feel comfortable.
Sharing this beautiful practice which I study, teach and love has become the meaning of true joy for me, I would love to share this with you. Om, shanti, shanti, shanti. Namaste ॐ𑁍
